Join Alan for a day trip to Crosby to visit the Anthony Gormley statues on the beach. Take the X2 bus from the bus station at 10.10 or Penwortham Library at 10.22. From the Crosby bus stop (St Luke’s Church) we can either walk to the beach (about 30 mins) or take a local bus.
Monday 5th
Our monthly meeting today is at St Gerard’s Church Parochial Centre, 17a Brownedge Rd, Lostock Hall, PR5 5AA. Join us for a talk by Roger Blaxall entitled “A Policeman Said”. 2.00 pm start. £5.50 including refreshments.

Wednesday 14th
Today the Wednesday Lunch Club visits Papa Luigi’s, 169 Wigan Rd, Euxton, PR7 6JH. Join Michael at 12.30 for 1pm. Booking essential.
Wednesday 21st
Midweek Music at Christ Church, Lord Street, Southport for a lunchtime performance by the Fractal Saxophone Quartet (1pm -1.45pm). Free admission. Join us on the X2 bus from Preston Bus Stn, stand 23, at 10.45 or Penwortham Library at 10.57, arriving in plenty of time for lunch before the concert.

Sunday 25th
Join Alan Cross at 11am for an easy 2-3 mile walk through Haslam Park and along the canal. Meet at Haslam Park carpark, Bristow Avenue, Ashton-on-Ribble PR2 1JE.

Sunday 29th
Join Alan Cross at 11am at Ribby Hall, Ribby Rd, Kirkham, PR4 2PR. Plenty of free parking available in the car park. Meet outside the Spar shop which is on the left hand side after passing through the main gate. It is a flat, easy walk of about 2 miles around the perimeter of the village through the woods and by the river. It may be a bit muddy after rain. There are several places to eat after the walk.
DECEMBER
Tuesday 1st A visit to the Christmas Tree Festival at Blackburn Cathedral. Free but donations welcome. Join us on the 59 bus, stand 36, from Preston bus station at 10.25am. If you would like lunch in the Cathedral café, please sign up so that we can book a table.
Thursday 3rd Join Celia for a festive visit to Barton Grange Garden Centre with the legendary hotpot supper in the Riverside Café (also available: giant pig in blanket, homemade pies with peas and gravy, etc.). Meet Celia at 4.45 for 5pm. Booking essential.
Monday 7th Join us for a special Christmas meal in the upstairs private room at The Mill, St Catherine’s, Lostock Hall, PR5 5XU. There will be a free ticket to the Christmas raffle for everyone.
