Join Alan Cross at 11 am for a  2 1/2 mile walk in Cuerden Valley Park. Meet in the Asda car park, Clayton-le-Woods, PR6 7JT.

The Book Club discusses "The Secret Adversary" by Agatha Christie. Meet at Ann Webster's home at 1.30 pm. £1 for refreshments.

Tuesday 10th

Lancashire Heritage Event:

UCLAN Library and Special Collection: 1 hour tour at 1 pm. Meet us at the entrance to UCLA Library and Learning Centre, off Adelphi St behind Student Centre at 12.45 pm. Follow this with UCLAN Tunnels and Rooftops Campus tour: Start at St Peter's Church, behind the Student Centre at 14.30. Booking essential for the rooftop tour. Please sign up by the September meeting. (both these events are also available on 12th September)

Wednesday 25th

Join Anne Squire for a heritage walk in Liverpool. Meet at Liverpool Lime Street station (front entrance) at 10.30 am for 11 am start. The tour takes about 2 hours ad will take in Liverpool's famous landmarks and rich history. Train leaves Preston at 9.30. Leyland at 9.35 pm. £12 tbc.

Join Alan Cross at 11 am for a 2 1/2 mile walk to the river from Hurst Grange Park, Penwortham. Meet in the car park. Join us in the cafe at the end.

Friday 4th

Join us for a Walton's coach trip to visit Piece Hall in Halifax on Market Day. Cost £23. There are several pick-up points which we will negotiate with Walton's once we know numbers. Please sign up by the September meeting at the latest, indicating where you would like a pick-up, eg. Penwortham, Lostock Hall, Bamber Bridge, Leyland etc. Walton's will try to meet our needs. We will contact Walton's after the September meeting and let you know if Walton's cannot do your location. There were no problems last time). Please pay direct to Waltons on 01772 634563 one week before departure when they will let you kow your pickup time.

Tuesday 29th 

Join us for walk/tram ride to see the Blackpool Illuminations. Meet at 6.30 pm at Sainsbury's car park, 80 Redbank Rd, Bispham, FY2 9HH, where we have permission to park free of charge. After a Fish & Chips meal, we will walk along the promenade through the lights - we can be flexible, walk as much or as little as you want! If you don't want to walk, join us for Fish & Chips and take the tram.

FORTHCOMING EVENT

Monday 9th December

Join us for a Christmas afternoon of festive fun. We will enjoy a 2 course lunch followed by tea/coffee and mince pies. There will be a free ticket to the Christmas raffle for everyone, and prizes for the quizzes. Friends welcome. Please complete a menu sheet with your food choices.Cost £30. Menu sheet and payment are required by the AGM on 4th November.
